Psalm 109 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 109.

Meditate on verse 4.

In return for my love, they act as my accusers;
but I am in prayer.

What an interesting psalm! Deeply hurt and betrayed by someone he loved, David told God what the person did to him and how he wanted that person held accountable. Perhaps the punishment section made you uncomfortable (vs. 6-20). David wanted his friend turned foe to die and be judged guilty in his sin (vs. 7-8). He wanted his children to be beggars and for no one to be gracious to them (vs. 9-12). Ouch!
Perhaps, you can relate to David. It’s good to know you can be really, really honest with God—even saying, “Get them, LORD!” Hopefully, as you talk to God about your enemies, you will see them with the heart of Christ, saying: “Forgive them, Father, they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34).
Pray Psalm 109:1-4 and 26 over yourself and those you love as a faithful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“O God of my praise, do not be silent!  For
 they have opened the wicked and deceitful mouth
against _________ and me; they have spoken against us
 with a lying tongue.  They have surrounded us with words
 of hatred and fought against us without cause.
 In return for our love, they act as our accusers, but we
are in prayer.  Help us, O LORD our God!
 Save us according to Your lovingkindness!
In Your name, Jesus~”
