Philippians 3 - Praying God's Word

Please read Philippians 3.

Meditate on verses 7-8a

But whatever things were gain to me,
those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
More than that, I count all things to be loss
in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my LORD.

Paul’s brilliant resume would have launched him into senior leadership in his company, “Pharisees-R-Us.” He had the attitude, academics, and mentor, leading him to be the project officer for destroying a new faction known as ‘The Way.” Paul left Jerusalem to persecute the church in other cities, and God intersected his life (Acts 22:3-21). His learning, sponsorship, and religious fervor did not earn him favor with God. Paul realized nothing a person does or owns achieves bragging rights in God’s Kingdom, and nothing in the universe compares to the value and worth of knowing and following Jesus.
The surpassing greatness of knowing Jesus is like being carried away by a tsunami. Completely commit yourself to Him by praying Philippians 3:7- 11 as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, whatever things were gain to me,
those things I count as loss for the sake of You, Christ.
More than that, I count all things to be loss
in view of the surpassing value of knowing
You, Christ Jesus my LORD.  For You, I’m willing to suffer
the loss of all things and count them but rubbish
so that I may gain You and may be found in You,
not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law,
but that which is through faith in You, Christ,
the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,
that I may know You and the power of Your resurrection
and the fellowship of Your sufferings, being
conformed to Your death; in order that I may attain
to the resurrection from the dead.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus ~”
