Nehemiah 12 - Praying God's Word

Please read Nehemiah 12.

Meditate on verse 43.

And on that day they offered great sacrifices
and rejoiced because God had given them great joy,
even the women and children rejoiced,
so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard from afar.

Imagine the joyful dedication of Jerusalem’s wall. The Levites gathered to lead all the people in songs of praise and thanksgiving (vs. 24, 27). They cleansed themselves and the people before the worship began, so they could truly praise the LORD with pure hearts (v. 30). Two enormous choirs lined the wall—men, women, and children singing with all their hearts as they marched to the temple where they continued to glorify God, their songs being heard far beyond Jerusalem’s gates (vs. 31-43).

What a powerful picture of authentic worship!  Nehemiah 12 can help you obey Christ’s command in John 4:23-24:

"But an hour is coming, and now is, when
the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit
and truth; for such people the Father seeks
to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship
Him must worship in spirit and truth."

Worship the LORD with a purified heart by confessing sin and walking wholeheartedly with Him.  Spiritual worship is all about God, communicating with and honoring Him. When you live to worship God, your praise will be heard far beyond what you can imagine, impacting others who need a joy-filled relationship with their Creator.

Pray Nehemiah 11:24, 27, 30, and 43 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, let _________ and me praise and give thanks to You.
As we dedicate ourselves to You, let us celebrate
the dedication with gladness, with hymns of thanksgiving,
and with songs.  Purify us, LORD!  Keep us pure!
We offer You great sacrifices, and we rejoice
because You have given us great joy.
Let our joy be heard from afar.
Because of You, Jesus~”
