Micah 1 - Praying God's Word

Please read Micah 1.

Meditate on verses 2-3.

Hear, O peoples, all of you; listen, O earth and all it contains, and let the LORD God be a witness against you, the LORD from His holy temple.  For behold, the LORD is coming forth from His place.  He will come down and tread on the high places of the earth.

The book of Micah is addressed not only to Kings Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah and the people of Samaria and Jerusalem; it is addressed to you (vs. 1-3). Therefore, as you read, ask the Holy Spirit to give you ears to hear and a heart to repent concerning what God says in this book.
Notice Micah’s grief over the spread of sin. Worship on the high places spread from the northern kingdom, whose capital was Samaria, to the southern kingdom, whose capital was Jerusalem (vs. 5-9).
What sin has reached the gate of your people (v. 9)? These can be generational sins passed down through your family for years: laziness, drunkenness, pornography, pride, anger, negligence, and unfaithfulness. Recognize them; confess them; ask God to miraculously cure the incurable wounds the sins have inflicted on your loved ones; be so grieved by sin and its consequences that you determine by the strength of God to stop sinning. Beg God to stop the spread of sin sickness!
Use the words from Micah 1:9 to appeal to the LORD as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“O LORD, ____________ and my wounds are incurable,
for sin has come to my family!
It has reached the gate of my people.
 O LORD, stop its spread!
Keep us from sinning; miraculously cure us!
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
