Ecclesiastes 5 - Praying God's Word

Please read Ecclesiastes 5.

Meditate on verse 1.

Guard your steps as you go to the house of God
and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools;
 for they do not know they are doing evil.

As a Christian, you have the privilege of being in God’s presence every moment of the day. In His presence, you can talk to Him and listen to Him all the time. Examine your day. What does it look like in relation to communicating with God? Here are some questions to get you started.

1.     What are the first things you do in the mornings?
2.     How much of your day is in silence – no media sounds from any type of device?
3.     Would you describe yourself as one who “prays without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)?
4.     Do you listen for the Holy Spirit to talk to you when you pray?
5.     Do you memorize God’s Word?

Ask the LORD how He would answer these questions about you.  Let Him show you times in your day that need to be more wholly devoted to Him.

Pray Ecclesiastes 5:1 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, please help ________ and me guard
 our steps as we go to Your house.
Let us draw near to listen rather
 than to offer the sacrifice of fools.
LORD, please keep us from doing any form of evil.
In Your name, Jesus~”
