1 Thessalonians 5 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Thessalonians 5.

Meditate on verse 6.

So then let us not sleep as others do but let us be alert and sober.

Paul ends his letter with a list of exhortations for believers to be able to excel still more in their walks with Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:1).  Ask the LORD to help you apply them to your walk with Him and to your relationships with others in your church:

·      Be alert and sober (v. 6).
·      Encourage, build up, and live in peace with one another, appreciating and esteeming those who labor among you and who teach you (vs. 11-13).
·      Admonish the unruly, help the weak, encourage the fainthearted, and be patient with everyone (v. 14).
·      See that no one repays another with evil for evil; always seek what is good for others (v. 15).
·      Rejoice always, pray unceasingly, and give thanks in everything (vs. 16-18).
·      Do not quench the Spirit and do not despise prophetic utterances (vs. 19-20).
·      Examine everything carefully and hold fast to what is good (v. 21).
·      Abstain from every form of evil (v. 22).

Ask the LORD to help you obey and pray 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“God of peace, sanctify _________ and me entirely;
may our spirit, soul, and body be preserved complete,
without blame at Your coming, LORD Jesus Christ.
 God, You are faithful; You have called us, and You will bring it to pass.
In Your name, Jesus~”
