2 Chronicles 31 - Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Chronicles 31, remembering what you read yesterday in 2 Chronicles 30.

Meditate on verse 1.

Now when all this was finished, all

Israel who were present went out to

the cities of Judah, broke the pillars in

pieces, cut down the Asherim and

pulled down the high places and the altars

 throughout all Judah and Benjamin,

as well as in Ephraim and Manasseh,

until they had destroyed them all.

Then all the sons of Israel returned

to their cities, each to his possession.

Wow!  Observing the Passover made a huge impact on the people.  God’s forgiveness resulted in the people destroying the idols in their land.  Once the evil was purged, these devoted ones eagerly gave to the LORD and His work (vs. 6-8).

What a beautiful picture of our lives once we are forgiven, made clean, and devoted to Christ our Passover (1 Corinthians 5:7)!  There is an urgency to cut down and destroy things that turned our attention and devotion from God.  We generously give time, talent, and resources to serve Christ and His church.  It is obvious when we belong to the LORD.

Ask God to make Himself and His work obvious in your life and the lives of those you love by praying 2 Chronicles 31:20-21 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, let __________ and me do throughout the land

what is good, right, and true before You, our God.

Let every work we begin in service of Your house

be done according to Your law and commandment.

As we work with all our heart, seeking

You, God, please let us prosper.

In Your name, Jesus~”
