Meditate on verses 5 and 16.
He (King Uzziah) continued to seek
God in the days of Zechariah, who had
understanding through the vision of God; and
as long as he sought the LORD, God prospered him.
But when he became strong, his heart was so
proud that he acted corruptly, and he was unfaithful
to the LORD his God, for he entered the temple of the
LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.
Once again, the handwriting was on the wall for how the story would end for this next king of Judah. After his God-given success, King Uzziah was full of himself, presumptuously doing things contrary to God’s will with tragic consequences. God afflicted him with leprosy until the day he died (vs. 20-21).
God still hates pride and the sin that results. Amazingly, the LORD humbled Himself to the point of death on the cross to save us from our prideful sin (Philippians 2:8). As that truth sinks in, determine to humbly and wholeheartedly walk with the LORD all the days of your life.
Use the words from 2 Chronicles 26:4-5, 16, and 20 to pray over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, please help ________ and me do right in Your
sight, according to all that You want us to do. Let us
continue to seek You all the days of our lives.
Give us understanding through Your vision, God,
and prosper us as long as we seek You. When You
make us strong, do not let our hearts be proud; do
not let us act corruptly; do not let us
be unfaithful to You, LORD our God.
LORD Jesus, You were smitten for
our transgressions (Isaiah 53:4).
We remain humbly Yours, Jesus~”
