2 Thessalonians 1 - Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Thessalonians 1.

Meditate on verses 6-7.

For after all, it is only just for God to repay with affliction those

afflict you and to give relief to you who are afflicted,

and to us as well, when the LORD Jesus will be revealed from

heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire.

Paul wrote a second letter to the persecuted church in Thessalonica, continuing to comfort them with descriptions of what will occur on the day of the LORD (v. 7):

·      God afflicts those who afflict Christians (v. 6).

·      God relieves afflicted believers, revealing the LORD Jesus with His mighty angels in flaming fire (v. 7).

·      God deals out retribution to those who do not know Him and do not obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ (v. 8).

·      Those who do not know the LORD pay the penalty of eternal destruction away from the presence of God and the glory of His power (v. 9).

·      God is glorified in His saints and marveled at among all who believe (10).

What a glorious day for Christians!  What a horrific day for unbelievers!  Who do you need to tell before it is too late?

Pray 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, count ___________ and me worthy

of our calling and fulfill every desire

for goodness and work of faith with power,

so Your name, LORD Jesus, will be glorified in us,

and us in You, according to Your

grace, God and LORD Jesus Christ.

In Whose name, I pray~”
