1 Thessalonians 4 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Thessalonians 4.

Meditate on verse 13.

But we do not want you to be uninformed,

brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you

will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.

As I write this devotional, our entire world is in turmoil because of a virus wreaking havoc in the lives of millions.  For those who do not know Jesus, what a truly horrific time it is, for this tiny microbe can infect one’s lungs and take one’s life in a matter of days, if not hours.  Scary, if you do not understand the difference between dying and falling asleep in Jesus.  God’s Word refers to the bodily death of Christians as:

·      Absent from the body and at home with the LORD (2 Corinthians 5:8)

·      Asleep in Jesus (1 Thessalonians 4:14)

·      Laying aside the earthly dwelling (2 Peter 1:14)

Jesus promises those who believe in Him will live and never die spiritually (John 11:25-26).

God wants you to know what happens when a Christian departs this earth and what happens when Christ returns with His bride, the church (Revelation 19:5-14).  Thankfully, we have God’s Word to teach us these truths.  As you continue to read the devotionals in The Watchman on the Wall, Vol. 4, you will read and pray many of the books in the Bible which address The Day of the LORD and Christ’s return.  What an amazing treasure hunt it will be!

Pray 1 Thessalonians 4:14 over yourselves and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Jesus, I believe You died and rose again and will bring

with You those who have fallen asleep in You.

Please let _________ believe, so they will

be with You when You return.

In Your name, Jesus.”
