1 Thessalonians 1 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Thessalonians 1.

Meditate on verse 8.

For the Word of the LORD has sounded forth from you,

not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place

your faith toward God has gone forth, so that

we have no need to say anything.

Paul established the church at Thessalonica amid much persecution (Acts 17:1-9).  Because of false accusations and physical violence by the Jews, he was sent away from the city (Acts 17:10), and as he journeyed through the rest of Greece, he heard about the faith of this Thessalonian church (vs. 8-10).  What an encouragement for Paul to know these persecuted believers were boldly living their faith in Christ!  Paul wrote this letter to let them know he knew about their faithfulness and to exhort them to excel still more as they walked with Jesus (1 Thessalonians 4:1).

More than 2,000 years later, Christians are still under severe opposition and persecution.  Let Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians be God’s letter of encouragement to you as you walk with Christ, waiting for His return (v. 10).

Pray 1 Thessalonians 1:7-10 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, let _________ and me be an example

to all the believers and to those who

need to become believers.  Let Your Word

sound forth from us in every place

our faith toward You has gone forth.

Let us serve You, the living and true God,

as we wait for Your Son from heaven,

whom You raised from the dead,

that is Jesus, who rescues

us from the wrath to come.

Thank You in Your name, Jesus~”
