Job 33 - Praying God's Word

Please read Job 33.  Elihu is speaking.

Meditate on verses 16-17.

Then He (God) opens the ears of men and

seals their instruction, that He may turn

man aside from his conduct and keep man from pride.

Trials not only give us wisdom and understanding (Job 28:20, 28); they make us aware of pride in our lives (v. 17).  God hates pride, so a wise person recognizes it, uproots it, and stops its growth.

The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;

pride and arrogance and the evil

 way and the perverted mouth, I hate.

—Proverbs 8:13

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh

and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of

life, is not from the Father but is from the world.

—1 John 2:16

So, when the Father loves you enough to let you go through a trial, use it to obtain His wisdom and remove the pride lurking within you.

Pray Job 33:14-18, 26, and 28 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD God, indeed, You speak once or twice;

let _________ and me notice it.  When You speak

 in a dream, in a vision of the night, when

 sound sleep falls on us and we slumber

 in our beds, open our ears and seal our instruction

 that You may turn us aside from our conduct and keep

 us from pride.  Keep back our souls from the pit and our life

from passing over into Sheol (the place of the dead).

 I pray, God, please accept us that we may see Your face

 with joy.  Restore our righteousness.  Thank You for redeeming

 our souls from going to the pit.  Our lives shall see the light.

Because You are the Light, Jesus~”
