Job 29 - Praying God's Word

Please read Job 29.

Meditate on verse 2.

Oh, that I were as in months gone by, as in the

days when God watched over me.

Have you ever been in the midst of suffering, feeling like God has removed His hand of blessing and protection from you?  Job was in that place, and he speaks longingly about the bygone days when he had good health and the respect of others.  But he has been dealt quite a blow, and all that was good in his life has been stripped from him.  At least he still has the LORD, but Job even feels like He is far away.

Thankfully we have Job’s words for our difficult seasons in this life.  Use his words to express things that are on your heart.  Pray Job 29:2-6 and 14 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, oh that ___________ and I were as in months

gone by, as in the days when You watched over

us, when Your lamp shone over our heads, and

by Your light, we walked through darkness,

as we were in the prime of our days, when

Your friendship, God, was over our house.

Even though it doesn’t feel like it, LORD

Almighty, You are yet with us.  Please continue

to bathe our steps in butter, and

let the rock pour out for us streams of oil!

LORD Jesus, we have put on Your

righteousness, and it clothes us.

Your justice is our robe and turban.

Thank You, in Your name, Jesus~”
