Meditate on verses 11-13.
None of the men who came up from Egypt, from twenty years old
and upward, shall see the land which I swore to
Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob; for they did not follow Me fully,
except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite
and Joshua the son of Nun, for they have followed
the LORD fully. So, the LORD'S anger burned against Israel,
and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until
the entire generation of those who had done evil
in the sight of the LORD was destroyed.
Observe the contrast between the Israelite men and Joshua and Caleb. God described the men as not fully following Him; however, Joshua and Caleb followed the LORD fully. These two men were allowed to enter the promised land, but the rest were not. That generation of men was destroyed because of their evil deeds.
Have you ever thought about not fully following God as evil? The LORD expects total allegiance to Him; not remaining loyal to Him is evil and invites calamity into one’s life.
Evaluate your walk with Christ. Would He describe you as following Him fully? Confess areas where you do not wholeheartedly walk with Him and ask Him to help you give Him your unwavering loyalty.
Pray Numbers 32:12 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, please make __________ and me like
Caleb and Joshua; may we follow You fully.
In Your name, Jesus~”
