Deuteronomy 6 - Praying God's Word

Please read Deuteronomy 6.

Meditate on verse 17.

You should diligently keep the commandments

of the LORD your God, and His testimonies and

His statutes which He has commanded you.

As Christians, does God still expect us to keep His commandments?  Hear His Words from the New Testament:

"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

—John 14:15

By this we know that we have come to know Him,

if we keep His commandments. The one who says, "I have

come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments,

is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

—1 John 2:3-4

Christ did not abolish the Law; rather He fulfilled it by accomplishing all of the sacrificial commandments and teaching us how to observe the rest of the 613 laws (Matthew 5:17, 27-48).

As you continue reading Deuteronomy, take God’s Words to heart, applying them to your life and praying them over yourself and those you love.  Pray Deuteronomy 6:4-7, 12, and 17-18 as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, You are God; You are one!

May _______ and I love You with all our heart, soul, and might.

May the words You are commanding us be on our heart.

Let us teach them diligently to our children

and talk of them when we sit in our houses

and when we walk by the way and when

we lie down and when we rise up.

May we watch ourselves that we do not forget You, LORD.

Help us diligently keep Your commandments, testimonies,

and statutes. Help us do what is right and good in Your

sight, LORD, that it may be well with us.

In Your name, Jesus~”
