Deuteronomy 5 - Praying God's Word

Please read Deuteronomy 5.

Meditate on verse 1.

Then Moses summoned all Israel and said to them:

"Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the ordinances which

I am speaking today in your hearing, that you

may learn them and observe them carefully.”

Words, spoken by God 40 years earlier, Moses faithfully taught to the next generation, for they, too, must hear, learn, and do them.  Hear the cry of God’s heart for His people:

“Oh, that they had such a heart in them, that

they would fear Me and keep all My commandments

always, that it may be well with them

 and with their sons forever!”

—Deuteronomy 5:29

Is that the cry of your heart for those you love?  Faithfully teach them God’s Word and pray Deuteronomy 5:24, 29, and 31-33 as their faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Behold, LORD our God, You have shown us Your glory

and Your greatness, and we have heard Your voice, and

we have seen that You speak with people.

Oh, that __________ and I may have such a heart in

us that we would fear You and keep all Your

commandments always, that it may be

well with us and our children forever!

As we stand here by You, speak to us all

the commandments and the statutes and the

judgments which we will teach to others

that they may observe them.  LORD our God, help

 us observe to do just as You have commanded us;

do not let us turn aside to the right or to the left.

Let us walk in all the way which You have commanded

that we may live and that it may be well with us and that

we may prolong our days in the land which we will possess.

In Your name, Jesus~”
