Please read Genesis 3.
Meditate on this phrase from verse 1.
“Indeed, has God said…. ?”
These are
the first recorded words of the serpent, who is also called the devil and
Satan. Jesus called him a liar and the father of lies (Revelation 12:9; John
8:44).
The first
thing Satan asked Adam and Eve was, “Did God really say that?” It is the same
question the liar will ask you every time you are tempted to sin: “Did God
really say not to do that?”
Then the
father of lies will say to you, “What you are about to do isn’t that big of a
deal. Besides God really wants you to be happy.”
Believing
and submitting to the lies of the evil one brings separation and death, not
happiness and contentment. When Adam and Eve submitted to the serpent, they
were separated from God; they lost the privilege of walking with God in the
cool of the day.
The rest of
Scripture is about God restoring His relationship with people. It is the love
story of God doing everything—even dying for you—so you can be in an intimate
relationship with Him.
Do not let
Satan tempt you to doubt God and His Word. Did God really say He died for you,
so you can live for Him? Yes! Does Jesus really forgive your sins and remember
them no more? Yes! Does God really want to walk and talk with you every moment
of every day? Yes! Walk with God in truth and do not be deceived by the evil
one.
Pray Genesis
3:8 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful
watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD
God, when _________ and I hear the sound
of You
walking
in the garden of our lives in the cool of the day,
may we
come to You and never hide from You.
In Your
name, Jesus~”
