Isaiah 38 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Isaiah 38.
Meditate on verse 14b.

O Lord, I am oppressed, be my security.

King Hezekiah is sick and about to die.  Just as he spread out the threatening letter from the Assyrians before the LORD (Isaiah 37), now he spreads his life out before the Almighty and begs God to heal him.  I love how Hezekiah knows to Whom he must go if he is really going to get the help he desperately needs.

Just as God was his security against the Assyrian threats, God is his security for all of life.  The LORD hears King Hezekiah’s prayer and adds 15 years to his life.

What oppression are you facing today?  Go to your only real security and pray Isaiah 38:3, 17, and 20.

“LORD, it is You who has kept my soul from the pit of nothingness,
for You have cast all my sins behind Your back.
Remember now, O LORD, I beseech You,
how I have walked before You in truth and with a whole heart,
and have done what is good in Your sight.
LORD, I know You will surely save me.
In Your Name, Jesus~”
