Psalm 89 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 89.

Meditate on verse 1.

I will sing of the lovingkindness
 of the LORD forever;
to all generations I will make known
 Your faithfulness with my mouth.

Lovingkindness and faithfulness are important repeated words in this psalm; both are used seven times.  God’s promises surrounding these words were originally made to David, God’s anointed servant (v. 20).  In Christ Jesus, you, too, are an anointed servant of God (2 Corinthians 1:21; Revelation 19:5), so His promises apply to you.  Ponder these truths about God’s lovingkindness and faithfulness:
·      Lovingkindness will be built up forever, and God will establish His faithfulness (v. 2).
·      God’s faithfulness surrounds Him (v. 8).
·      Lovingkindness goes before Him (v. 14).
·      God’s faithfulness and lovingkindness are with His anointed (v. 24).
·      God keeps His lovingkindness for His anointed (v. 28).
·      God will not break off His lovingkindness nor deal falsely in His
faithfulness (v. 33).

Tell others these truths from God’s Word and pray them over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).  Pray Psalm 89:20-22, 24a, 26, and 28-29.

“LORD, __________ and I are Your servants.

Anoint us with Your holy oil.
Let Your hand be established with us,
and let Your arm strengthen us.

Do not let the enemy deceive us nor
the son of wickedness afflict us.
Let Your faithfulness and
lovingkindness be with us.

You are our Father, our God,
and the Rock of our salvation!
Keep Your lovingkindness for us forever
and confirm Your covenant with us.

Establish our descendants forever.

In Your name, Jesus~”
