Psalm 88 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 88.

Meditate on verse 10a.

Will You perform wonders for the dead?
The psalmist was in very low and depressed state.  From the pit, he asked God six questions (vs. 10-12):
·       Will You perform wonders for the dead?

·       Will the departed spirits rise and praise You?

·       Will Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave?

·       Will Your faithfulness be declared in Abaddon (place of destruction)?
·       Will Your wonders be made known in the darkness?

·       Will Your righteousness be made known in the land of forgetfulness?
The answer to all of these questions is: “In Jesus Christ, YES!”
For the LORD Himself will descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God,
and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air,
and so we shall always be with the LORD.
 —1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Perhaps you or those you love are in a dark place. Use the words from Psalm 88 to cry out to your LORD then look up “because your redemption is drawing near” (Luke 21:28).
Pray Psalm 88:1-2 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“O LORD, the God of my salvation,

I have cried out by day and in the night before You.
Let my prayer come before You; incline Your ear to my cry!
(Pour out your heart to the LORD.)

In Your name, Jesus~”
