Meditate on
verses 2 and 6.
The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than
all the other dwelling places of
Jacob.
The LORD will count when He registers
the peoples, “This one was born there.”
Zion was the
southwestern hill of Jerusalem where David built his palace; it became the
“city of David.”1 The LORD loves Zion and calls it the “city of God”
(vs. 2-3). Everyone born in Zion is counted and registered by the LORD Himself
(vs. 5-6).
As a
Christian, “you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the
heavenly Jerusalem” (Hebrews 12:22). And
this is what Jesus says about you:
“He who overcomes, I will make him a
pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go
out from it anymore; and I will write on him the
name of My God, and the name of
the city of
My God, the new Jerusalem, which
comes down out
of heaven from My God, and My new
name.”
—Revelation 3:12
Through
Jesus Christ, you are born into the city of God. The LORD counts and registers you as a
citizen of His household (Ephesians 2:19). Amazing!
Pray Psalm
87:6 over those who need to be born into the city of God. Pray Psalm 87:7 in thanksgiving for your
permanent residence there.
“LORD, cause ________ to be born
into You,
so when You count and register
the
peoples, You will say of them,
‘This one was born there.’ LORD,
all
my springs of joy are in You.
Because of Your name, Jesus~”
