Meditate on verse 4.
Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You, and let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified.”
When David wrote this psalm, he was not glad and rejoicing; he was afflicted and needy. He sought God to deliver him, giving God a list of his needs. Let David’s honesty encourage you as you tell God your requests. David asked God to:
- hurry and deliver me (v. 1)
- hurry and help me (v. 1)
- let those be ashamed and humiliated who seek my life (v. 2)
- let those be turned back and dishonored who delight in my hurt (v. 2)
- let those be turned back because of their shame who say, “Aha, aha!” (v. 3)
Pray Psalm 70:5 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, _______ and I are afflicted and needy;hasten to us, O God! You are
our help and our deliverer;O LORD, do not delay! For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
our help and our deliverer;O LORD, do not delay! For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
