Hosea 14 - Praying God's Word

Please read Hosea 14.

Meditate on verse 1-2a.

Return, O Israel, to
the LORD your God,
for you stumbled
 because of your iniquity.
 Take words with you
and return to the LORD.
Say to Him, “Take away all iniquity
and receive us graciously.”

God concluded His message to Israel by inviting her to return to Him. He declared at the beginning of His message that Israel was no longer His people, yet in His unending mercy, God relented and invited Israel to come back to Him (Hosea 1:9; 14:1).
His invitation came with a condition. He would allow her to return if she asked Him to take away all her iniquity. God did not tell Israel to take away her own sin; only He could remove it; all she had to do was ask.
Israel would come to realize that Assyria could not save her, and her idols could not save her. Only the LORD her God could save her. Not only would He save her, but He would turn His anger away from her, heal her, and love her (Hosea 14:3-4).
God extends the same invitation to you. He invites you to return to Him.
Pray Hosea 14:2a and 9 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“I take Your Words with me,
and I return to You, LORD.
Take away all of my iniquity
and receive me graciously.
LORD, make _________ and me wise
to understand these things.
Make us discerning,
so we can know them.

LORD, Your ways are right;

make us righteous, so we will walk in them.

Do not let us be transgressors
who stumble in Your ways.
Because of Your name, Jesus~”
