1 Chronicles 28 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Chronicles 28.

www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/1ch/28/1/s_366001

Meditate on verse 6.

He (God) said to me, “Your son Solomon is the

one who shall build My house and My

courts; for I have chosen him to be a

son to Me, and I will be a father to him.”

In front of his royal court, military commanders, overseers, and mighty men, King David entrusted his son, Solomon, with the plans for building God’s temple (vs. 1, 11-12).  God chose Solomon to build the temple instead of David, so rather than being jealous of his son or upset with God for not choosing him, David did all he could to ensure Solomon’s success.

What a great chapter for parents—both physical and spiritual—to help us propel others to do great things for God.  Think about those God gives you to mentor.  What are you doing to ensure their success?  Do you pray daily for them?  Do you spend time with them, teaching them things of the LORD?  Do you provide resources for their walk with Christ?  Do you cheer them in God’s will for their lives?

Use the words from 1 Chronicles 28:7-10 to pray over those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, establish ______________ in You, forever.

May they resolutely perform Your commandments

and ordinances.  Let them observe and seek after all Your

commandments, so they may possess the good and

bequeath it to their children after them forever.

Let them know You, God, and serve You with a whole

heart and a willing mind, for LORD, You search all hearts

and understand every intent of the thoughts.  Let them seek

You and find You.  Let them never forsake You!  Choose them

to build Your church.  Let them be courageous and act.

In Your name, Jesus~”

1 Chronicles 27 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Chronicles 27.

www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/1ch/27/1/s_365001

Meditate on verse 33.

Ahithophel was counselor to the king, and Hushai the Archite was the king's friend.

1 Chronicles 27 describes the military divisions in Israel.  The Israeli army was divided into 12 divisions, each with 24,000 men (v. 1).  The commander of each division was a capable man, the head of his household, ready and able to serve the king in all the affairs of his military division (v. 1).

What a great chapter to pray over the men in your family!  “LORD, make our men capable heads of their families, ready and able commanders of Your army, serving You, King Jesus, in all the affairs of Your Kingdom!”

Pray 1 Chronicles 27:32-33 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, make ___________ and me a counselor, a person of understanding,

and a scribe—one who recounts accurately the things of God.1

May we be a counselor to the king and the king’s friend.

For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

Meditate on this phrase from verse 31.

Men of outstanding capability were found among them.

Israel’s gatekeepers, treasurers, officers, and judges had to be people of integrity.  They are described as valiant, able, and strong—capable to oversee all the affairs of God and the king (vs. 7, 8, 32).  What an incredible description of Godliness!  And, what a great chapter to pray over those you love.

Treasure hunt this chapter for specific verses God wants you to pray.  Here are some of the ones we found; pray 1 Chronicles 26:6-9, 12, 14, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30-32 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, make __________ and me mighty people of valor.

Make us valiant and able, with strength for the

service You call us to do.  Make our men valiant men.

Give us duties to minister in Your house, LORD.

Make us counselors with insight.  Make us people

of integrity who can have charge of the treasures

of Your house, God, and of the treasures of Your

dedicated gifts.  Make us capable of being officers

over the treasures.  If it is Your will, let us have

charge of all the treasures of the dedicated gifts.

Let everyone who has dedicated anything be

able to trust it to our care.  Make us capable to be

given charge of the affairs of Your people.  Make us

people of outstanding capability.  Make our men

capable heads of their households.  Make us capable

overseers concerning all the affairs of God and the king.

In Your name, King Jesus~”

1 Chronicles 25 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Chronicles 25.

Meditate on these phrases from verses 1 and 3.

Who were to prophesy with lyres, harps, and cymbals…

Who prophesied in giving thanks and praising the LORD…

Have you thought about worship leaders and church musicians as prophets?  King David set apart musicians to prophesy with their instruments and voices.

This is an important chapter for us as worshipers and leaders of worship.  Think about the songs you hear, play, and sing.  Do the music and lyrics correctly declare Truth about God?  Analyze the songs, making certain they are Biblical, for God hates false prophecy.

An appalling and horrible thing has happened

in the land: The prophets prophesy falsely, and

 the priests rule on their own authority;

and My people love it so!  But what will you do at the

end of it?  Beware of the false prophets, who come to

you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

—Jeremiah 5:30-31; Matthew 7:15

Worship leaders, you are Bible teachers, and God holds you accountable for the words being sung, making sure they are Scripturally sound.  Worshipers, test the prophets, making sure the words you sing are not contrary to God’s Word (1 John 4:1).

Use the words from 1 Chronicles 25:1 and 3 to pray over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, set apart ___________ and me to prophesy according

to Your Word and for Your service with our instruments—lyres,

harps, cymbals, etc.  Let us prophesy in giving

 thanks and praising You, LORD.

In Your name, Jesus~”

1 Chronicles 24 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Chronicles 24.

www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/1ch/24/1/s_362001

Meditate on verse 2.

But Nadab and Abihu died

before their father and had

no sons.  So Eleazar and

Ithamar served as priests.

It is important to remember the story of Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu:

Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron,

 took their respective firepans, and

after putting fire in them, placed incense

on it and offered strange fire before

the LORD, which He had not commanded

them.  And fire came out from the

presence of the LORD and consumed

them, and they died before the LORD.

—Leviticus 10:1-2

Nadab and Abihu made their own way for entering God’s presence, and as priests, led others with them down their deadly path.  When they tried to approach God with strange fire, He consumed them with His fire for blatant disregard of His Word.

God still takes seriously how one enters His presence—no one comes to the Father except through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).  All other ways are like Nadab and Abihu’s strange fire, leading to death.

As a Christian, and therefore a priest of God (1 Peter 2:9), know God’s Word and teach correctly the way of salvation through Jesus Christ alone (Acts 4:8-12).  As a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7), use the words from 1 Chronicles 24:2 and 4 to pray for yourself and those you love to be faithful priests.

“LORD, make _________ and me Your faithful

priests.  Do not let us be a Nadab

and Abihu, doing things leading to death.

Make us Your choice ones, who

lead according to Your Word.  May

more choice people be found to lead.

For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”

1 Chronicles 23 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Chronicles 23.

www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/1ch/23/1/s_361001

Meditate on verse 32.

Thus, they are to keep charge of the tent of meeting,

and charge of the holy place, and

charge of the sons of Aaron their relatives,

for the service of the house of the LORD.

As New Testament believers, whom Jesus made priests to His God and Father (Revelation 1:5-6), it is important to pay close attention to Old Testament instructions to the Levites because in the eyes of God, that is who you are.  You are set apart and sanctified as most holy to minister to God and bless in His name forever (v. 13; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Colossians 3:12).  You are called to thank and praise the LORD day and night (v. 30; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).  You are to continually offer a sacrifice of praise before the LORD (v. 31; Hebrews 13:15).  You are called to keep charge—guard and protect as a watchman and a sentry—Christ’s church (v. 32; Acts 20:28).

Pray 1 Chronicles 23:13, 30, and 32 to be faithful to God’s Levitical call over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, set _________ and me apart to sanctify us as

most holy forever, to minister to You and to bless

in Your name forever.  Let us stand every morning

to thank and praise You, LORD, and likewise at evening.

Let us keep charge of the holy place for

the service of Your church, LORD.

In Your name, Jesus~”

1 Chronicles 22 - Praying God's Word

Please read 1 Chronicles 22.

www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/1ch/22/1/s_360001

Meditate on verse 13b.

Be strong and courageous; do

 not fear or be dismayed.

When David saw the LORD had accepted his sacrifice and answered him on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he began making preparations for his son Solomon to build the temple on that location (1 Chronicles 21:28; 22:1-6).  Realizing Solomon needed much strength and help from God for such a daunting task, David spoke encouraging words over his son.  Pray those words from 1 Chronicles 22:11-13 and 18-19 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, please be with __________ and me that

we may be successful and build Your church

just as You have spoken.  LORD, give us discretion

and understanding and give us charge over those

You place in our care, so that we may

keep Your law, LORD our God.  Let us prosper

as we carefully observe Your statutes and ordinances.

Make us strong and courageous; do not let us

fear nor be dismayed.  LORD God, You are

with us.  Give us rest on every side.  Give the

inhabitants of the land into our hand.  Subdue the

land  before You and before Your people.  Now, may

we set our heart and our soul to seek You, LORD our God.

Let us arise and build for the sake of Your Kingdom.

In Your name, Jesus~”
