Meditate on this sentence from verses 6 and 14.
And the LORD helped David wherever he went.
David was quite a warrior, killing most of his enemies and
enslaving the rest. Perhaps you are
thinking this is the chapter where the Christ parallels end. However, consider these words from Revelation
19:13-16 and 21.
He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The
Word of God. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike
down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the
wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a
name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of
Him
who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.
Jesus, the baby born in a manger to die for the sins
of the world, will return to earth as the conquering Warrior King and LORD,
slaying His enemies who refused His sacrifice for their sins. That is the
entire story of Christmas. Ask the LORD to help you tell the whole Christmas
story this year; people must know how the story ends.
Pray 2 Samuel 8:6b and 14b over yourself and those for whom
you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, help _______ and me wherever we go.
LORD, help ________ and me wherever we go.
In Your name, Jesus…”
