Carefully read Luke 6.
As you do, notice the timing of events and everything that Jesus
does. Remember Luke wrote in consecutive
order (Luke 1:3-4).
Meditate on verse 46.
Why do
you call Me, “LORD, LORD,”
and do not do what I say?
Do you call
Jesus “LORD”? Do you obey Him? A lord is a master, a person possessing
supreme power and authority. No wonder Jesus questioned His disciples about why
they were calling Him “LORD.” They called Jesus their LORD, but they did not
obey Him as a LORD must be obeyed. After asking the question, Jesus immediately
defined what it meant to call Him “LORD.” If Jesus is your LORD, you will:
*Come to
Him
*Hear His
Words
*Do His
Words
Pray Luke 6:46-48 over yourself and those for whom you stand
guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, may _______
and I call You “LORD”
and do what You say.
Jesus, help us come
to You,
hear Your Words, and act on them.
LORD, build our
homes.
May we dig deep and
lay our foundation on You, the Rock.
When a flood occurs
and the torrent bursts against our homes,
may they be unshakeable
because we have built
in Your name, Jesus~”
