Luke 11 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Luke 11.
Meditate on verses 21 and 28b.
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house,
his possessions are undisturbed.

Blessed are those who hear the Word of God
and observe it.

In this chapter, Jesus addressed people who prided themselves in knowing the Word of God: scribes, Pharisees, lawyers, even Christ’s disciples who were hearing the Word of God every day. Jesus wanted people to know they were blessed when they heard the Word of God AND observed it. When you observe the Word of God, you put it into practice; you do what it tells you to do.
Interestingly, the Greek word (the original language of the New Testament) translated as observe in Luke 11:28 is the same Greek word that is translated as guards in verse 21. Jesus was making the point that to truly guard your home and family, you must observe His Word.
Evaluate your life. Are you merely a deluded hearer of the Word, or are you an effectual doer (James 1:22,25)? Are you guarding yourself and those you love by obeying God and His Word?
Pray Luke 11:21 and 28 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, make and me strong in You.
May we be fully armed with Your Word,
so we can guard our homes.

Keep our families undisturbed.

Let us hear AND observe Your Word.

In Your name, Jesus~”
