Please read Matthew 26.
Meditate on verse 38.
Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved,
to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.”
Yesterday I had the blessing of sitting on the Mount of
Olives in the Garden of Gethsemane reading Matthew 26:36-46. As I read the Words of my Savior in the place
He spoke them 2000 years ago, I could hear Him saying to me, “Marsha, remain
here and keep watch with Me.”
That is the call of your Savior for your life. “Remain with Me; abide in Me (John 15:4).”
It is amazing Jesus would be thinking of others as He faced
His most agonizing hour. Yet always the
Good Shepherd, He exhorted His disciples to remain with Him, keep watch with
Him, and pray. The Shepherd, Who would
soon be the Lamb that was slain, in the midst of His grief, gave you treasure
verses to obey and to pray over those you love as you keep watch with Him.
Pray Matthew 26:38, 39, and 41 over yourself and those for
whom you are standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“Lord, may we remain
with You
and keep watch with
You.
Help us to do Your
will
and not our own will.
Help us to keep
watching and praying
so we will not enter
into temptation.
Because of Your Name,
Jesus~”
