Romans 5 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Romans 5.
Meditate on verse 6.

For while we were still helpless,
at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly.

Without Christ you are helplessly hopeless.  At the right time, while you were still a sinner, Christ died for you so you could be saved from the wrath of God by the life of Christ.  What an amazing gift He has given you!  In Christ you receive the abundance of God’s grace, the gift of His righteousness, and the privilege of reigning in life through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).

Pray for those in your life who have not yet received this free gift from God.  Pray Romans 5:3-5 over yourself and those for whom you are standing guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, help my family to exult in our tribulations,
knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance;
and perseverance, proven character;
and proven character, hope;
and hope does not disappoint,
because Your love has been poured out within our hearts
through the Holy Spirit Who was given to us.
In Your Name, Jesus~”

Romans 4 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Romans 4.
Meditate on verses 18-21.

In hope against hope he believed,
so that he might become a father of many nations
according to that which had been spoken,
 “So shall your descendants be.”
Without becoming weak in faith,
 he contemplated his own body,
now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old,
and the deadness of Sarah’s womb;
yet with respect to the promise of God,
he did not waver in unbelief
but grew strong in faith giving glory to God,
and being fully assured that what God had promised,
He was able also to perform.

What do you believe God for?   Are you waiting for something or someone God has promised? Your human reason for hoping is gone, yet you are hoping in faith.

Abraham did not waver in unbelief when it came to the promises of God.  While he waited for God to fulfill His promises, Abraham grew stronger in faith.  Abraham’s growth gave glory to God.

Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).  Do not grow weary and lose heart (Hebrews 12:3).  The LORD has called you to be a watchman for someone.  There is at least one person in your life who appears hopeless.  God calls you to grow strong in faith for them, to be fully assured that what God has promised He is able to perform.  God calls you to pray without ceasing for Him to establish their hearts without blame in holiness (1 Thessalonians 3:13).

Pray Romans 4:17 over the person for whom God has called you to be a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, You give life to the dead and call into being that which does not exist.
Please give spiritual life to __________________.
Let them exist and have their being in You.
In Your Name, Jesus~”

Romans 3 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Romans 3.
Meditate on verses 23 – 24.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
being justified as a gift by His grace
through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus.

Try to wrap your mind around salvation.  God’s Word says, “There is none righteous, not even one; there is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God.  All have turned aside, together they have become useless; there is none who does good, there is not even one.  Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they keep deceiving.  The poison of asps is under their lips; whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; destruction and misery are in their paths, and the path of peace they have not known.  There is no fear of God before their eyes (Romans 3:10-18).”

That is the description of the people Jesus came to save.  That is the description of you apart from Jesus. That is the description of every single life separate from the gift of God’s grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus.  Amazing... absolutely amazing!  If God Himself had not said it, it would be unbelievable.   Why?  Why would the God of the Universe love you so much to offer you the gift of Himself?  Why would any human refuse the gift of God’s grace, and why would anyone boast in themselves once they have received it?

Pray Romans 3:24-26 over yourself and those for whom God has appointed you a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, thank You for demonstrating Your righteousness
by passing over my sins previously committed.
You are the justifier of all who have faith in You, Jesus.
Please draw ______________ to Your gift of grace.
In Your Name, Jesus~”

Romans 2 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Romans 2.
Meditate on verse 4.

Do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience,
not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

Do you presume upon the LORD’s kindness, forbearance, and longsuffering patience with you and others?  The LORD is kind to you because He wants you to repent of your stubborn selfishness.

Examine yourself in the light of Romans 2.  Do you obey the truth or do you obey unrighteousness?  Do you boast in God, know His will, correct the foolish, and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the spiritually blind, yet you do not teach yourself; and you actually dishonor God?  Do you take the LORD’s kindness and patience for granted?

The day of God’s wrath is coming for those with a stubborn and unrepentant heart.
Do not take His longsuffering over you lightly.  His patience will one day cease for those who refuse the LORD’s glory, honor, immortality –– His eternal life.

Pray Romans 2:4 - 7 over yourself and those for whom God has appointed you a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD,  may _____________ and I stop taking lightly
the riches of Your kindness, tolerance, and patience.
Your kindness leads us to repentance.
Please draw ________________ to ask for
Your forgiveness and Your eternal life.
 Save them from Your wrath.
Father, please forgive my stubborn and unrepentant heart.
In Your Name, Jesus~”

Romans 1 ~ Praying Scripture

Please read Romans 1.
Meditate on verse 16.

For I am not ashamed of the Gospel,
for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes,
to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Gospel means good message, specifically the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.  In his letter to the church in Rome, Paul examined the Gospel of Jesus Christ from every angle in order to prove salvation is by the grace of God through faith in Christ alone.  Paul is not ashamed of the Gospel because he knows it is the power of God for salvation to everybody who will believe it.  In the Gospel, God’s righteousness is revealed, and God reveals His wrath against everyone who suppresses the truth of the Gospel by living in unrighteousness.

It is a horrific place to be when a person refuses to honor God and exchanges the truth of God for a lie.  God tells you in Romans 1 that every human knows God, yet some will become fools and will deny God.  The punishment for such a deadly decision is that God will give fools over to their lusts, degrading passions, and depraved minds (Romans 1:24, 26, and 28).

God has entrusted you with loved ones whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).  Pray Romans 1:16 and 21 over them.

“LORD, please let _______________ know You,
honor You, and always give thanks to You.
Do not let them become futile in their thinking
or let their hearts be darkened and  foolish.
Let them not be ashamed of the Gospel.
Let them believe, so they, too,
can have Your power for salvation.
In Your Name, Jesus~”
