2 Samuel 7 - Praying God' s Word

Please read 2 Samuel 7.

Meditate on verse 16.  God is speaking to David.

“Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever;

your throne shall be established forever.”

2 Samuel 7 contains the Davidic covenant, God’s forever promises to King David.  Some of those covenant promises are:

·       God will establish the kingdom of David’s descendant forever (vs. 12-13).

·       God’s lovingkindness will not depart from David’s descendant (v. 15).

·       David’s house and kingdom will endure before God forever, and his throne will be established forever (v. 16).

Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the Davidic covenant:

·      Jesus was born a descendant of David (Romans 1:1-3).

·      Jesus is the Messiah, the son of David (Matthew 1:1).

·      God found David to be a man after His heart, and from his descendants, according to God’s promise, God brought to Israel a Savior Jesus (Acts 13:22-23).

If you are in a covenant relationship with Jesus, sit before the LORD and pray David’s words in 2 Samuel 7:18-29.  This is a prayer formed with some of those words:

“Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house,

 that You have brought me this far?

Thank You for knowing me, O LORD God!

For the sake of Your Word

 and according to Your own heart,

You have done all this greatness.

 For this reason, You are great, O LORD God;

 for there is none like You,

and there is no God besides You.

 May my family be established before You.

 May it please You to bless my family that

 we may continue forever before You.

  For You, O LORD God, have spoken,

and with Your blessing

may my family, Your servants, be blessed forever.

In Your name, Jesus~”
