2 Samuel 18 - Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Samuel 18.

Meditate on verse 33.

The king was deeply moved and went up to

the chamber over the gate and wept.

And thus he said as he walked, “O my

son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom!

Would I had died instead of you,

O Absalom, my son, my son!”

David wished he had died in the place of his son, Absalom.  David’s descendant, Jesus, fulfilled that desire.

Blessed be the LORD God of Israel,

for He has visited us and accomplished

redemption for His people,

and has raised up a horn of salvation for

us in the house of David His servant.

For while we were still helpless, at the

right time Christ died for the ungodly.

For one will hardly die for a righteous man,

but God demonstrates His own love toward us,

in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

—Luke 1:68-69; Romans 5:6-7a, 8

Christmas is the celebration of God loving you so much He came to earth to die in your place, so you can live forever with Him.  Hear Him cry Your name:

“O My child, __________, My child, My child ____________!

I have died instead of you, O ____________, My child, My child!”

Answer your Savior with thanksgiving.  Then using the words from 2 Samuel 18:33, pray for those who need to hear the LORD say the same to them.

“LORD, thank You for dying instead of me!

Let ___________ hear You call them by name.

Let them know You died instead of them.

In Your name, Jesus~”
