Ezekiel 8 - Praying God's Word

Please read Ezekiel 8.

Meditate on verse 6.

And He said to me, "Son of man, do you see what
they are doing, the great abominations which
the house of Israel are committing here, so that I
would be far from My sanctuary? But yet
you will see still greater abominations."

“Yet you will see still greater abominations” is a repeated phrase in this chapter of Ezekiel. It is hard to imagine people doing worse than disgusting wickedness, yet three times, God told Ezekiel he would see people behaving more abominably evil than they were already behaving (vs. 6, 13, 15). And in the dark, they wallowed in their abominations, convincing themselves the LORD did not see them (v. 12).
Wouldn’t it be great to be able to wag your head at the evil Israelites, yet all you have to do is read a few of today’s news stories to realize you are seeing “still greater abominations than these” every day.
As a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7), confess sins and plead for others, using Ezekiel 8:17-18.

“LORD, I know You see all our abominations.
We have committed abominations here, and if that
weren’t enough, we have filled the land with
violence and provoked You repeatedly.
We have put the twig to our nose as we snub You.
LORD, please help us turn from our abominations,
so You will not have to deal with us in wrath.
Please let Your eye have pity on us and spare us!
Please listen when we cry in Your ears with a loud voice.
Because of Your mercy, Jesus~”
