Luke 7 - Praying God's Word

Meditate on verse 30a.

But the Pharisees and the lawyers

 rejected God’s purpose for themselves.

In this chapter, God taught about soldiers and slaves who obeyed their Roman centurion master (Luke7:8). He taught about a sinful woman who loved Jesus so much she wept at His feet, wiped His feet with her hair, and anointed His feet with perfume that traditionally might have been bought by her family for her wedding day (Luke 7:37-38). Contrast the response of the Pharisees when Christ intersected their lives.

God had Luke weave these events together in his carefully written account (Luke 1:3) so you can decide who you are going to be like: those who acknowledged God in faith and received His healing, forgiveness, and peace, or those who chose to take offense at Jesus and rejected God’s purpose for their lives.

Pray Luke 7:8, 30, and 50 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

obeying Your commands to
“Go!” “Come!” and “Do this!”


Do not let us reject Your purpose for our lives.

May we hear You say,
“Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
