Luke 2 - Praying God's Word

Meditate on verse 26.

And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit

that he would not see death before he had seen the LORD’s Christ.

Simeon could depart this earthly life in peace once he had seen God’s salvation. As he held Jesus in his arms, he blessed God for allowing him to see the LORD’s Christ before he saw death (Luke 2:26-30).

There is only one way to depart this earthly life in peace. You must see God’s salvation. You must hold Jesus in your arms as the gift of grace that is salvation. You must see the LORD’s Christ before you die.

Think of the people you know who would not depart in peace if they were to die today. Pray Luke 2:26 over them as their faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Holy Spirit, let _________ see Christ before they see death.
