Psalm 94 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 94.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/94/1/s_572001
Meditate on verse 19.

When my anxious thoughts multiply within me,
Your consolations delight my soul.

The psalmist asked God questions which you may also have asked:
·      LORD, how long will the wicked exult (v. 3)?
·      He who planted the ear, does He not hear; He who formed the eye, does He not see (v. 9)?
·      He who chastens the nations and teaches man knowledge, will He not rebuke (v. 10)?
·      Who will stand up for me against evildoers and those who do wickedness (v. 16)?
·      Can a throne of destruction and mischief be allied with the LORD (v. 20)?

When you ask God questions, listen for His answers:
·      A pit is dug for the wicked (v. 13).
·      The LORD will not abandon His people (v. 14).
·      Judgment will again be righteous for the upright in heart to follow (v. 15).
·      The LORD is your help, and His lovingkindness will hold you up (vs. 17-18).
·      The LORD is your stronghold and rock of refuge (v. 22).
·      The LORD your God will bring wickedness back on the wicked and
destroy them in their evil (v. 23).

Be consoled by the LORD and His Word and pray Psalm 94:17-19 and 22 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, You are _________ and my help! Our souls will not dwell in the abode of silence. When our feet slip, Your lovingkindness, O LORD, will hold us up.
When our anxious thoughts multiply within us, Your consolations delight our souls. LORD, You are our stronghold, and God, You are the Rock of our refuge, Jesus~”

Psalm 93 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 93.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/93/1/s_571001
Meditate on verse 5.

Your testimonies are fully confirmed;
holiness befits Your house, O LORD, forevermore.

As a child of God, you are the house of God.
Christ was faithful as a Son over His house—whose house we are ...
—Hebrews 3:6

As a child of God, you are holy because He is holy.

Like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior
because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”
—1 Peter 1:15-16

As a child of God, you are fully confirmed in the LORD Jesus Christ.
Our LORD Jesus Christ will also confirm you to the end,
blameless in the day of our LORD Jesus Christ.
—1 Corinthians 1:7b-8

Ponder these truths about who you are in Christ, and pray Psalm 93 in confident praise to your LORD.
“LORD, You reign! You are clothed with majesty.

LORD, You have clothed and girded Yourself with strength.
Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.
Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting.
O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice and their pounding waves.
But more than the sounds of many waters and the mighty breakers of the sea,
You, the LORD on high, are mighty!
Your testimonies are fully confirmed.

Thank You for confirming them in ________ and me. Holiness befits Your house.
Make us holy, O LORD, forevermore. Because of You, LORD Jesus~”

Psalm 92 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 92.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/92/1/s_570001
Meditate on verses 1-2.

It is good to give thanks to the LORD and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night.

Why is it good to give God thanks?
·      The works of His hands are great, and they make you glad (v. 4-5).
·      His thoughts are very deep (v. 5).
·      He is on high forever (v. 8).
·      His enemies will perish, and all who do iniquity will be scattered (v. 9).
·      He makes you righteous, so you flourish like the palm tree (v. 12).
·      He plants you in His house where you flourish in His courts (v. 13).
·      He lets you yield fruit, even in old age (v. 14).

The LORD does all of the above, so you can declare that He is upright, that He is your rock, and that there is no unrighteousness in Him (v. 15).

So much to be thankful for! Spend this day thanking Him. And pray Psalm 92:1-2 and 12-15 as a faithful prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, it is good to give You thanks and sing
praises to Your name, O Most High.

I will declare Your lovingkindness in the morning
and Your faithfulness by night.

Make ___________ and me righteous.
Let us flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Plant us in Your house, LORD,
and let us flourish in Your courts. Let us still yield fruit in old age;
let us be full of sap
and very green, to declare that You are upright;

You are our Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in You.
Because You are the LORD Jesus~”

Psalm 91 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 91. It is often called “The Warrior’s Psalm.” Many modern day warriors cling to it, even carrying a copy in their uniform pockets as they go into battle.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/91/1/s_569001
Meditate on verses 1 and 5a.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
You will not be afraid of the terror by night ...

The psalmist wrote at least 3,000 years ago, yet his words speak about things happening today: terror, destruction, evil ... And just like the psalmist’s only sure shelter from wickedness was Almighty God, the Most High is your shield and bulwark, protecting you from plague and pestilence. As you totally depend on the LORD, hear Him talking to you:
“Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;

I will set him securely on high because he has known My name.
He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With a long life I will satisfy him and let him see My salvation.”
—Psalm 91:14-16

If you love and know the LORD, claim His promises and pray Psalm 91:2- 4 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, You are my refuge and my fortress,
My God in whom I trust!

Deliver _________ and me from the snare of the trapper
 and from the deadly pestilence.
Cover us with Your pinions,

and under Your wings let us seek refuge.
Your faithfulness is our shield and bulwark.
Because of Your name, Jesus~”

Psalm 90 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 90.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/90/1/s_568001
Meditate on verse 1.

LORD, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Since the beginning of time, God made the opportunity to dwell with Him available to all people. You were created to praise Him! You were created to be His family, and He lavishly pours out His love on you. The LORD simply wants to be with you.
Ponder these truths about God (vs. 2, 8):
·      The One who gave birth to the earth and the world wants to be with you.
·      The One who is from everlasting to everlasting God wants to be with you.
·      The One who knows your secret sins wants to be with you.
·      The One who placed your sins before Him wants to be with you, so much so that He became your sins and died for them, so He can be with you (2 Corinthians 5:21).

If you are a Christian, then the LORD is your dwelling place; He is forever with you.

Pray Psalm 90:1, 14, and 16-17 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, thank You for being ________ and my dwelling place.
Satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness that we may sing for joy
and be glad all our days.
Let Your work appear to us, Your servants,
and Your majesty to our children and grandchildren.

O LORD our God, let Your favor be upon us. Establish the work of our hands;

yes, establish the work of our hands.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Psalm 89 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 89.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/89/1/s_567001
Meditate on verse 1.

I will sing of the lovingkindness of the LORD forever;
to all generations I will make known Your faithfulness with my mouth.

Lovingkindness and faithfulness are important repeated words in this psalm; both are used seven times. God’s promises surrounding these words were originally made to David, God’s anointed servant (v. 20). In Christ Jesus, you, too, are an anointed servant of God (2 Corinthians 1:21; Revelation 19:5), so His promises apply to you. Ponder these truths about God’s lovingkindness and faithfulness:
·      Lovingkindness will be built up forever, and God will establish His faithfulness (v. 2).
·      God’s faithfulness surrounds Him (v. 8).
·      Lovingkindness goes before Him (v. 14).
·      God’s faithfulness and lovingkindness are with His anointed (v. 24).
·      God keeps His lovingkindness for His anointed (v. 28).
·      God will not break off His lovingkindness nor deal falsely in His
faithfulness (v. 33).

Tell others these truths from God’s Word and pray them over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7). Pray Psalm 89:20-22, 24a, 26, and 28-29.

“LORD, __________ and I are Your servants.

Anoint us with Your holy oil.
Let Your hand be established with us,
and let Your arm strengthen us.

Do not let the enemy deceive us nor the son of wickedness afflict us.
Let Your faithfulness and lovingkindness be with us.

You are our Father, our God, and the Rock of our salvation!
Keep Your lovingkindness for us forever and
confirm Your covenant with us.

Establish our descendants forever.

In Your name, Jesus~”

Psalm 88 - Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 88.
www.blueletterbible.org/nasb/psa/88/1/s_566001
Meditate on verse 10a.

Will You perform wonders for the dead?
The psalmist was in very low and depressed state. From the pit, he asked God six questions (vs. 10-12):
·      Will You perform wonders for the dead?

·      Will the departed spirits rise and praise You?

·      Will Your lovingkindness be declared in the grave?

·      Will Your faithfulness be declared in Abaddon (place of destruction)?
·      Will Your wonders be made known in the darkness?

·      Will Your righteousness be made known in the land of forgetfulness?
The answer to all of these questions is: “In Jesus Christ, YES!”
For the LORD Himself will descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God,
and the dead in Christ will rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the LORD in the air,
and so we shall always be with the LORD.
 —1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Perhaps you or those you love are in a dark place. Use the words from Psalm 88 to cry out to your LORD then look up “because your redemption is drawing near” (Luke 21:28).
Pray Psalm 88:1-2 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“O LORD, the God of my salvation,

I have cried out by day and in the night before You.
Let my prayer come before You; incline Your ear to my cry!
(Pour out your heart to the LORD.)

In Your name, Jesus~”
