Please read Hosea 9.
Meditate on verse 8.
“Ephraim was a watchman with my God, a prophet;
yet the snare of a bird catcher is in all his ways,
and there is only hostility in the house of his God.”
It does not
matter how long the race is that God has called you to run, you must run it
faithfully. A trained runner will be exhausted at the end of whatever race they
run. Whether 100 meters or 26.2 miles, a good runner will give all they have
and finish exhausted.
You do not
know when you will die, but you are called to run faithfully to the end the
course God has planned for you. God doesn’t leave you to run the race alone.
His Spirit is your pacesetter. Yoked to Christ, He is with you every step of
the way preparing you for every adventure (Matthew 11:29-30).
Ephraim
failed to stay close to God. They failed to stay as faithful watchmen and
prophets of the LORD. The reason was simple; distractions from their holy
duties resulted in hostilities in the house of God. They stopped listening to
their Pacesetter, and they ensnared themselves in sin. God stripped them of
their holy duty as prophets and watchmen; therefore, their nation, tribes,
cities, and families lost the watchmen’s voices of holiness to help them live
as God’s children. In the end they perished worshipping rocks and trees.
Pray Hosea
9:8 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as faithful, prayerful
watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD,
make ___________ and me watchmen with You, God.
Make us
faithful prophets.
Prevent
the snare of the bird catcher in all of our ways.
Let not
hostility enter into Your house, God.
In Your name, Jesus~”
