2 Corinthians 7 - Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Corinthians 7.
Meditate on verse 1.

Therefore, having these promises, beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves
from all defilement of flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

In Paul’s first letter to the church at Corinth, he admonished them severely for allowing sin in the church that would not even be committed by the pagans outside their church (1 Corinthians 5:1). The Corinthian believers were saddened by Paul’s reproof in a good way because the sin was acknowledged and stopped. Paul said in this second letter that such sorrow was according to the will of God; it brought repentance leading to salvation and repentance that frees people from regrets (2 Corinthians 7:10).
Sin should make you sad. Are you grieved when you see the results of sin in your life and in the lives of others? Does grief over sin bring you to repentance and a desire to not commit that sin again? Ask God to give you and those you love His perspective on sin.
Pray 2 Corinthians 7:1 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
 “LORD, since _________ and I have Your promises,
 let us cleanse ourselves from
all defilement of flesh and spirit,
 perfecting holiness in the fear of You, God.

In Your name, Jesus~”
