Please read Isaiah 47.
Meditate on verse 4.
Our Redeemer, the LORD of hosts is His name,
The Holy One of Israel.
God used the
Babylonians to punish Israel for their idolatrous disobedience to Him. Babylon
was merciless in their dealings, so God was mad. “Judgment will be merciless to
one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment” (James 2:13).
The
Babylonians did not show mercy. They felt secure in their wickedness and
knowledge. They were arrogant. “I am, and there is no one besides me,” they
said (Isaiah 47:8, 10).
God said, “I
am the LORD, and there is no other. I am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah
45:5, 6, 18, 21, 22).
The LORD
destroyed Babylon. That world power ceased to exist overnight (Daniel 5:30-31).
There are
lessons to be learned from Babylon. God will punish a Babylonian attitude:
merciless, arrogant, god of your own life, shamelessly living in wickedness,
and wandering in your own way.
As a
faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7), cry out Isaiah 47:4 for yourself
and others who need to be saved from their Babylonian existence.
“Our
Redeemer, the LORD of hosts,
The Holy One of Israel, save ________ and me!
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
