Psalm 9 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 9.
Meditate on verses 9 and 10.

The LORD also will be a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You,
for You, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

As you read this Psalm of David, notice what he says he will do in the first two verses:

            *I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart.
            *I will tell of all Your wonders.
            *I will be glad and exult in You.
            *I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.

There are days when doing those things comes naturally; there are other days when you must choose to do them instead of whining and complaining or being ungrateful.  Practice doing those four things today.

Notice that David remembered things God had done.  He listed at least ten of them in this Psalm.  What do you recall that God has done in your life?  Recount those things; meditating on who God is and His faithfulness in the past helps you to be thankful in the present and confident of God’s faithfulness for the future.

David prayed throughout this Psalm. Use his words from Psalm 9:13-14 and 19-20 to pray over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Be gracious to _________ and me, O LORD.
See our affliction from those who hate us.
 Lift us up from the gates of death,
that we may tell of all Your praises.
We will rejoice in Your salvation.
Arise, O LORD, do not let man prevail;
 let the nations be judged before You.
 Put them in fear, O LORD;
let the nations know that they are but men.
Because of Your name, Jesus~”
