Psalm 3 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 3.
Meditate on verses 2 and 3.

Many are saying of my soul,
“There is no deliverance for him in God.”
But You, O LORD, are a shield about me,
 my glory and the One who lifts my head.

Psalm 2 is one of the Psalms written by King David.  He wrote it when his son, Absalom, turned the people against David and attempted to make himself king of Israel (2 Samuel 15).  God used the situation to make David humble and contrite.  David climbed the Mount of Olives a broken, weeping man.   He spent the night there and awoke knowing the LORD would sustain him; David no longer feared the ten thousands of people who set themselves against him (2 Samuel 15:25-30; Psalm 2:3-6).

This Psalm may describe a situation you face.  Are you facing discouraging and daunting times?  Do you feel that God is not going to deliver you?  Are you coming to God in brokenness and humility? Even though everyone and everything around David said the situation was hopeless, David declared with confidence, “But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory and the One who lifts my head” (Psalm 3:3).

Come humbly before the LORD and pray Psalm 3:7-8 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“Arise, O LORD; save _______ and me, O my God!
Smite all our enemies on the cheek;
shatter the teeth of the wicked.
Salvation belongs to You, LORD.
Let Your blessing be upon us, Your people.
For the sake of Your name, Jesus~”
