Psalm 7 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Psalm 7.
Meditate on verse 9a.

O let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
 but establish the righteous…

David appealed to God for justice.  He knew the LORD was a righteous judge, so he first asked God if there was any injustice within him.  David wanted the LORD to reveal sin in his own life then he appealed to God to judge his adversaries.

David knew this truth about God:

If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword;
He has bent His bow and made it ready.
He has also prepared for Himself deadly weapons;
 He makes His arrows fiery shafts.
—Psalm 7:12-13

David knew the importance of coming to God in humility, desiring the LORD’s examination to divulge sin in his life.  David could take refuge in God because he had a repentant heart.

God is a righteous judge and a saving shield (Psalm 7:10-11).  Come to the LORD in repentance and ask Him to show you unconfessed sin.  Ask Him to forgive you then pray Psalm 7:1, 10, and 17 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“O LORD my God, in You ________ and I have taken refuge.
Please save us from all those who pursue us and deliver us.
Our shield is with You, God.
Make us upright in heart and save us.
We give thanks to You, LORD, according to Your righteousness.
We will sing praise to Your name, LORD Most High.
Because Your name is Jesus~”
