Deuteronomy 2 - Praying God's Word

Please read Deuteronomy 2.

Meditate on verse 15.

Moreover, the hand of the LORD was

against them, to destroy them from within

the camp until they all perished.

What a sobering meditation verse!  “LORD, please do not let Your hand ever need to be against us to destroy us until we perish.”  God wanted these young Israelites to know well the story of why their fathers and grandfathers died, so they would not repeat mistakes from the past.  God expected them to obey Him, conquering where and when He commanded (vs. 2-6, 9, 19, 37).  Thankfully, we have their story as well, so we do not repeat others’ mistakes, learning to fully obey God.

This chapter has several verses with words you can use to pray over yourself and those you love.  Start with Deuteronomy 2:3, 7, 9, 15, 30, and 37 as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, ________ and I have been going in circles

long enough; now tell us where to turn.

Please bless us in all we do; You know our wanderings.

You have been with us; we have not lacked a thing.

Do not let us harass ________ or provoke them.

Please, do not let Your hand be against us to destroy

us until we perish.  Do not harden our spirit and make

our heart obstinate.  LORD, we want to

 go wherever You command us.

In Your name, Jesus~”
