Meditate on verses 1-2.
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, "Command
the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When you
enter the land of Canaan, this is the land that shall fall
to you as an inheritance, even the
land of Canaan according to its borders.’”
In this chapter, God laid out the borders for the land promised to the Israelites; the land was their inheritance from Him. When you became a Christian, you, too, received a precious inheritance from God:
Blessed be the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, who
according to His great mercy has caused us to
be born again to a living hope through the resurrection
of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance
which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away,
reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by
the power of God through faith for a salvation
ready to be revealed in the last time.
—1 Peter 1:3-5
Think about your precious God-given inheritance described as undecaying, unsoiled, and unfading, carefully guarded in heaven for you. And not only is your inheritance protected, you yourself are eternally kept and saved by God’s power. These are important truths to remember and to tell others who need to know they, too, can receive an eternal inheritance when they belong to Jesus.
Using the words from Numbers 34:29, pray to be the one God uses to apportion the inheritance of salvation to those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, I will obey Your command to apportion
the inheritance of salvation by telling others about You.
In Your name, Jesus~”
