Please read Ruth 4.

Meditate on verse 14.
Then the women
said to Naomi, "Blessed is the LORD
who has not left you without a redeemer today,
and may his name become famous in Israel.”
What an amazing story of
God’s redemption! Boaz’s redemption of Naomi and Ruth set into motion the
lineage of Jesus Christ, whose name would indeed become famous in Bethlehem and
Israel. As Naomi held her beloved baby, Obed, who was born to Boaz and
Ruth in Bethlehem, she was holding
the great-great-great-great…grandfather of her Redeemer Jesus Christ.
The record of
the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah…
Salmon was the
father of Boaz by Rahab,
Boaz was the
father of Obed by Ruth,
and Obed the
father of Jesse.
Jesse was the
father of David the king…
—Matthew 1:1, 5-6
It’s Christmas, and
as you think about Jesus being born in Bethlehem, 2000 years ago, think about
Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz, too. Think about these faithful ancestors
of Christ, following
God wherever He led them, in
good times and bad. Thank God for faithful legacies, asking Him
to help you give your family the gift of faithfulness
this Christmas.
Pray
Ruth 4:14-15 in thanksgiving to your LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
“Blessed are
You, LORD, who has not left us
without a
Redeemer today.
May Your name
become famous in Israel
and in the lives of my loved ones.
Jesus, You are the Restorer of life
and Sustainer of us, even in our old age.
You are better
to us than anyone.
Happy Birthday, Jesus. I love You~”
