2 Timothy 1 - Praying God's Word

Please read 2 Timothy 1.

Meditate on verse 7.

God has not given us a spirit of timidity,
but of power and love and discipline.

Paul’s first letter to Timothy was filled with instructions for leading the church in Ephesus. A few years passed since Timothy received that letter; now Paul’s beloved son in the faith needed a letter of personal encouragement.
Even a faithful bond-servant of Christ gets discouraged at times. So although Paul was close to death, imprisoned as a criminal in Rome because of Jesus, and rejected by many of his friends, he wrote this letter to exhort and encourage Timothy.
There are at least 30 exhortations from Paul to Timothy in this letter, commands to be strong and diligent, to remember Jesus, to do certain things and to avoid doing other things. They are wise words from a concerned spiritual father, and they are words from a loving Heavenly Father to you.
No matter what is happening to you right now, remember God has saved you and given you a holy calling for His purposes (2 Timothy 1:9). Read this letter in its entirety, as if it were a letter written personally to you, because it truly is. Be encouraged by your LORD, today.
Pray 2 Timothy 1:6-9 and 14 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, help _______ and me to kindle

afresh Your gift within us.

Thank You for not giving
 us a spirit of timidity,

but of power and love and discipline.

Let us not be ashamed of Your testimony, LORD.

Let us not forget that You have saved us

and called us with a holy calling,

not according to our works,

but according to Your own purpose
and grace which was granted us
in You, Christ Jesus, from all eternity.
Holy Spirit, who dwells in us,

guard the treasure which
 has been entrusted to us.
 Because of Your name, Jesus~”
