Judges 13 - Praying God's Word

Please read Judges 13.

Meditate on verse 5.

For behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son,
and no razor shall come upon his head,
for the boy shall be a Nazirite1 to God from the womb,
and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines.

What an incredible encounter with God! Manoah and his wife were childless when God appeared to them and told them they would have a son (vs. 2-5, 22). Their boy, Samson, was set apart for God’s purposes before he was even conceived (v. 7). Before his birth, the LORD taught Samson’s father and mother how to parent him because Manoah asked God to teach them (vs. 8-14).
If you are a parent, have you given your children to the LORD to be used for His purposes? Have you asked the LORD to teach you how to parent your child? Have you given yourself to God to be used as He desires? Share these incredible insights from God’s Word with other parents.
Pray Judges 13:7-8 and 24-25 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, make _______ and me like a Nazirite, devoted to You,
from the womb to the day of our death.
God, come and teach us what to do for the children in our lives.
Let us and our children grow up and be blessed by You.
Spirit of the LORD, begin to stir in us.
For Your purposes, Jesus~”

1. Nazarite means “consecrated or devoted one.” Retrieved from www.blueletterbible.org/lang/lexicon/ lexicon.cfm?Strongs=H5139&t=NASB
