Deuteronomy 4 - Praying God's Word

Please read Deuteronomy 4.

Meditate on verse 39.

Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the LORD,
He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.

Moses wrote Deuteronomy to the children and grandchildren of the Israelites delivered from slavery in Egypt. Their fathers and grandfathers died during the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness (Numbers 14:28-32; Deuteronomy 2:14). Moses retold the Israelite’s story and reiterated the commandments of God, so these children and grandchildren would know how to live pleasing to the LORD.
Thankfully, Moses penned God’s Words, so you, your children, and grandchildren can know what pleases the LORD. Deuteronomy is full of treasure verses to live, teach, and pray. You will spend the next 8 days mining some of the chapters. If you have time, read the entire book of Deuteronomy.
Moses repeated a command in Deuteronomy 4 for the people to give heed and watch themselves diligently (vs. 9, 15, 23). God wants you to mightily guard and protect yourself from sin. You have His Words and His Holy Spirit, so you can hold fast to the LORD your God (v. 4).
Pray Deuteronomy 4:9 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, let _______ and me give heed to ourselves
and keep our souls diligently,

so we do not forget the things our eyes have seen from You.
Do not let Your truths depart from our
hearts all the days of our lives.

Let us make them known to our children and grandchildren.
 In Your name, Jesus~”
