Proverbs 3 ~ Praying God's Word

Please read Proverbs 3.
Meditate on verses 5-6.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all of your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

The words of Proverbs 3:5-6 are foundational truths for walking with God.

The word acknowledge comes from the Hebrew word yada which means to know in a personal, relational way. Here, as opposed to just a mental understanding, is the additional characteristic of relationship in knowing. When Jesus saves you, He does so to bring you into a vibrant relationship with God. The sin in your life is taken away, and you are purified, so you get to have a non-stop relationship with your Creator. You get what Adam and Eve lost—you get to walk with God.

So a good way to state this verse is, “In all your ways know God.” In everything you do, in all your ways, you should do it WITH God, knowing Him and yourself better through the journey.

In Proverbs 3 the treasure hunt continues! Note the focus on wisdom being better than silver, gold, and precious jewels. Every verse in this chapter could be a prayer for yourself or someone you love. Topics include: love, faithfulness, discipline, and living with others in a holy way.

Pray Proverbs 3:5-6 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).

“LORD, help and me trust in You
with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding.
In all of our ways, we want to know You.
Thank You for making our paths straight.
In Your name, Jesus~”
