Please read Psalm 60.
Meditate on verses 11 and 12.
O give us help against the adversary,
for deliverance by man is in vain.
Through God we shall do valiantly,
and it is He who will tread down
our adversaries.
You have observed in the Psalms that David did not trust in
himself; he trusted in God.
O my God, in You I trust…
—Psalm 25:2
…I trust in the LORD.
—Psalm 31:6
How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust..
—Psalm 40:4
Worldly wisdom says you need “self-reliance,” “self-help,”
and “self-confidence.” God says to rely on Him; He will surely help you, and true confidence is in Jesus Christ (Isaiah 50:10; Isaiah 41:10; 2
Corinthians 3:4-5).
David acknowledged that he and the people had gone through
difficult times, but God was in control even of hardships for the glory of His
name. Do you and those you love feel
rejected and broken by God? Psalm 60
contains good verses to pray over your situation. Read 2 Samuel 8 to learn the rest of this
story. God delivered David from his enemies
and established his kingdom.
Pray Psalm 60:1 and 3-5 over yourself and those for whom you
stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“O God, You have rejected ________ and me.
You have broken us;
You have been angry; O, restore us!
You have made us experience hardship;
You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger.
LORD, we fear You; please give us a banner
that we can display because of Your truth.
Please deliver Your beloved _____________;
save with Your right hand and answer us!
Because of Your name, Jesus~”
