Please read Psalm 59.
Meditate on verses 9b, 10a, 16b, and 17b.
…God is my stronghold.
My God in His lovingkindness
will meet me..
…I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning,
for You have been my stronghold and a refuge in the day of my distress.
…God is my stronghold, the God who shows me lovingkindness.
David repeats the words stronghold
and lovingkindness in Psalm 59. He reminded himself about who God is because
he was literally surrounded by men commanded to kill him (1 Samuel 19:11). David was in a desperate situation; he
appealed to the LORD God of hosts to help him (Psalm 59:4-5).
What evil surrounds you or someone you love? Is there a stronghold in your family that
needs to be replaced by the stronghold of God?
Reread Psalm 59 and find a phrase or verse about who God is. Meditate on and memorize it. Share it with someone who needs to know about
the strength and lovingkindness of the LORD.
Pray Psalm 59:4b, 9-11, and 16-17 over yourself and those
for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“LORD, arouse Yourself to help _______ and me,
and see us and this situation!
Because of the strength of this situation,
we will watch for You,
for You are our stronghold.
My God, in Your lovingkindness,
meet us!
God, look triumphantly upon our
foes!
Scatter them by Your power
and bring them down, O LORD, our shield.
As for ______ and me, we shall sing of Your strength.
Yes, help us joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning,
for You have been our stronghold
and a refuge in the day of distress.
O our strength, we will sing praises to You,
for You are our stronghold, the God who shows us lovingkindness.
In Your strong name, Jesus~”
